Compression molded medical grade UHMWPE is produced in accordance with ASTM F-648
standards for use as an implant grade material and is ISO 5834-1 and ISO 5834-2 compliant for
use in international markets. Westlake compression molded sheets are formed under heat and
pressure, and are slowly cooled to produce a very dimensionally stable, virtually stress-free sheet
ideal for machining and fabrication. When machining close tolerance parts, a fabricator will experience
very little material movement. Our proprietary process provides sheets with inherent stress
levels that are extremely low or nonexistent in some cases than those typically found in the same
materials that have been extruded and secondarily annealed. Westlake production is performed
under clean room conditions in accordance with FDA mandated GMPS. Our quality system is ISO
9001 certified.
MediPEEK-IM is a high performance semi-crystalline thermoplastic designed for long term body contact as an implantable material. It is USP ClassVI and compliant to ASTM F2026. It has excellent sterilizability asd has been extensively tested to ISO-10993 requirements.
MediPEEK-T is a high performance PEEK semi-crystalline thermoplastic designed for short term body contact as an implantable material. It is USP Class VI and ASTM F2026 compliant. It has excellent sterilizability and has been extensively tested to ISO 10993 requirement for short term implant.
Medical grade Pomalux is made from acetal copolymer resin which allows machined products
the ability to retain dimensional integrity, maintain stability in water and most chemicals at
elevated temperatures. Pomalux products are opaque and are available in a wide array of
standard colors as well as on a custom basis. Recommended sterilization techniques for
Pomalux include EtO gas and steam autoclaving. Disinfectants and germicides generally have
no effect on Pomalux, however, acidic solutions can degrade the polymer. Westlake Plastics
Company manufactures all acetal extruded & compression molded sheets, plates and rods in
accordance to ASTM D6100. This specification covers requirement and test methods for the
material, dimensions, workmanship and the properties of extruded and compression molded
sheets, plates and rods. *In addition to our standard capabilities, Westlake also has the
ability to process custom resins in various sizes and colors
with some exceptions.
Medical grade Propylux HS is made from an FDA approved polypropylene resin. Through a unique
heat-stabilizing process, the extruded material is able to withstand higher temperatures with less water
absorption than standard polypropylene. Recommended sterilization techniques for Propylux HS include
steam autoclaving and cold sterilization. *In addition to our standard capabilities, Westlake also has the
ability to process custom resins in various sizes and colors
with some exceptions.
Through process improvement and advanced engineering, Westlake Plastics
introduces the next generation of heat-stabilized polypropylene. Propylux HS2 is
produced from a FDA and USP Class VI approved homopolymer resin, and exhibits
better heat and dimensional stability over Propylux HS. Recommended sterilization
techniques for Propylux HS2 include steam autoclaving and cold sterilization. *In addition to our standard capabilities, Westlake also has the
ability to process custom resins in various sizes and colors
with some exceptions.
Medical grade Radel R5500 resin offers exceptional hydrolytic stability, toughness, and superior
impact strength over a wide temperature range. This product also offers high deflection temperatures
and outstanding resistance to environmental stress cracking. Recommended sterilization
techniques for Radel R5500 include EtO gas, radiation, steam autoclaving, dry heat and cold
sterilization. *In addition to our standard capabilities, Westlake also has the
ability to process custom resins in various sizes and colors
with some exceptions.
Medical grade Tempalux is made from Ultem® polyetherimide resin, an amorphous thermoplastic which exhibits excellent resistance to a wide range of chemicals and disinfectants. Ultem maintains its size and shape over a broad temperature range as well as tolerates a high amount of stress over extended periods of time. Recommended sterilization techniques for Tempalux include EtO gas, radiation, steam autoclaving, dry heat and cold sterilization. *In addition to our standard capabilities, Westlake also has the ability to process custom resins in various sizes and colors with some exceptions.
Medical grade Zelux GS polycarbonate is produced from resin formulated to meet the stringent
performance characteristics and requirements of the healthcare industry. Suitable for EtO gas and
limited autoclaving sterilization, the resin also has proprietary color enhancement technology to
reduce color shift caused by gamma radiation. *In addition to our standard capabilities, Westlake also has the
ability to process custom resins in various sizes and colors
with some exceptions.
