Food Contact

Engineering Plastics are commonly used in Food Processing, Food Handling, and related applications. Plastic materials offer many benefits like strength, chemical resistance, long life, and unique part geometry. These materials have to meet certain requirements to be considered suitable for Food Contact. Requirements are defined in Product Compliance rules set forth by Government Agencies like the FDA (Food and Drug Administration USA), USDA (US Department of Agriculture), Canada AG (Agriculture Canada) and 3A-Dairy (Organization develops standards for Dairy). Materials that are used in Food Contact applications will usually require that they meet these requirements, (like a material must be FDA Compliant or meet USDA standards). Westlake offers a large number of plastics that are compliant.
